The Providers & Staff of The Woman's Clinic Welcome you! We are pleased you have chosen our practice to participate in your healthcare.
The Woman's Clinic has been serving Hickory residents since the early 1970's and has maintained a tradition of quality in providing obstetrical and gynecological care.

Obstetrical Care |
We ask that you select one of our physicians as your primary obstetrician, who will oversee and coordinate your prenatal care.
Our group shares responsibilities for your obstetrical care; therefore, your office visits will be rotated during the last several weeks among the other two obstetricians within our group.
After hours obstetrical call is shared between the physicians of The Woman's Clinic and Piedmont Ob/GYN.
After hours ESTABLISHED patients may reach the on-call physician by calling 828-315-5000.

Robert D. Boyd, M.D.
A native of Baton Rouge, LA, Dr. Boyd received his medical degree from the Univ. of Mississippi in 1983.
He completed an internship and residency in OB/GYN at the Univ. of Kentucky Medical Center in 1987.
He is certified by the American Board of OB/GYN and is a Fellow of the American College of OB/GYN.

F. Alice Bishopric, M.D.
A native of Eden, NC, Dr. Bishopric received her undergraduate education at Duke University in Durham, NC.
She received her medical degree from the Univ. of SC at Charleston in 1978.
She completed her internship and residency in OB/GYN at Charlotte Memorial Hospital in 1982.
She is certified by the American Board of OB/GYN and American Fertility Society.
She is also a Fellow of the American College of OB/GYN.

Steven R. Merta, M.D.
Dr. Merta received his Medical Degree from New York Medical College at Valhalla, NY in 1989.
He completed an internship and residency in OB/GYN at The State Univ. of New York at Buffalo in 1993.
He is certified by the American Board of OB/GYN and is a member of the
National Society of Laparoendocscopic Surgeons.

Meredith B. Watson, M.D.
A native of Smithfield, NC, Dr. Watson received her medical degree from The Brody School of
Medicine at East Carolina university in 2004.
She completed her internship and residency in OB/GYN at Orlando Regional Healthcare in 2008.
Dr. Watson joined The Woman's Clinic in 2008 and is board eligible by the American Board of OB/GYN.

L. Kimball Royster, PA-C
A native of North Carolina. Ms. Royster graduated from the Physician Assistant Program at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in 1982.
She received her Masters in Clinical Psychology from Appalachian State University in 1978.
She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, a member of the
American Academy of Physician Assistants and the NC Academy of Physician Assistants.

Melissa Sikes, MSN, FNP
Melissa (Sistie) Sikes is a native of South Carolina. She received her undergraduate degree,
Bachelor of Science in Nursing, from the University of South Carolina.
She received her Masters of Nursing from the Univ. of South Carolina in 1994.
She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Nurse Practitioner

Melinda Daves, WHNP-BC
Melinda Daves received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1983 from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte.
She received her Nurse Practitioner Certificate in Women's Health from the Emory School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia
in 1991 and has practiced since that time in both public and private settings.
She is certified by the National Certification Cooperation as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner.
She is a member of the American Nurses Association and is on the Council of Nurse Practitioners in North Carolina.

We are pleased to participate in most managed care plans.
Please present your insurance card at your first appointment.
You are responsible for obtaining any pre-authorizations required of your insurance plan. Your insurance company will reimburse for the majority of services you receive from us.
However, there may be some services which are either not covered or limited in coverage.
You should be thoroughly familiar with the coverage provided by your particular insurance plan.
